Introduction to Ashtanga
Vinyasa Yoga class is
best suited for fit beginners and improvers who want to learn the
primary and intermediate postures of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, a dynamic style of
yoga developed by Sri K.
Pattabhi Joyce. Among
his students were Madonna, Sting and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Class starts with performing of Pranayama (breathing technique) followed by
Asana (postures) practice and relaxation. Particular attention is paid to the
correct alignment in the Asanas in line with the recommendations of the another
renowned Indian yoga teacher - B. K. S. Iyengar
Ashtanga
Vinyasa Yoga self
led group is ideal for
students who come regularly to Irina's group and are familiar with the
Ashtanga yoga style. Please bring your own mat and equipment to this
class
During
all yoga classes the students are encouraged to work at their own pace and
rest when necessary
Yoga practice has a strong healing, invigorating and
relaxing impact on the body and mind, and should be performed regularly to enjoy
its benefits in full.
Yoga mats and belts are available
All payments must be in cash or cheques
Ample parking is available
Clothing for classes should allow easy movement.
Layering can be useful, as certain posture sequences will increase your body
temperature. Practice is carried out barefoot. Please bring a jumper or
sweater and a pair of socks to keep warm during relaxation. It is also
advisable not to have a large meal for two hours prior to class. A light
snack is acceptable
Any physical activity can result in accidental
injury or in making an existing illness or injury worse. Anyone attending
yoga practice should be aware of this small but important possibility.
Before starting a class or course of yoga practice, each participant is
offered to make a declaration of their
understanding of the practice to be undertaken and their own responsibility
for their own well being. A form is available to each student so that
they realise the potential risks of practising yoga
Please inform Irina of any pre existing health
conditions prior to attending classes. Participants with serious health
conditions should consult their medical advisors. People with known health
problems are encouraged to participate but should moderate movements and
poses appropriate to their conditions. Irina will help and encourage you to
explore your yoga potential
